Sojourner
Sojourner -  To dwell in a place temporarily.  A temporary resident.

I Chronicles 29:15  "For we are strangers before you and Sojourners, as all our fathers were.  Our days on the earth are like a  shadow and there is no abiding."  Words spoken by King David to the nation of Israel.

Welcome to the Sojourner web site which is dedicated to offering insights to traveling in Israel through the artwork produced by Artist and Architect James Pociluyko, AIA, who is also a staff member at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri.  Visit www.ihop.org.

It is the desire of the Artist to provide other fellow sojourners, through the publication of his and other family member's artwork, inspiration to pray for the peace of Israel and to travel and journal their own experiences.

This site provides a selection of gifts such as note cards, postcards, art prints as well as blank travel journals (ask about availability).  A portion of all proceeds will be used to support their missions work at the International House of Prayer and help various ministries in Israel.

You can contact James Pociluyko at this address:  11301 Norton Avenue Kansas City, Missouri 64137 or e-mail him at jimpociluyko@hotmail.com.  You can also make tax deductible contributions to the Pociluyko family to help them with global missions at the International House of Prayer.  PayPal donations are accepted on this site below.

Sojourner Journal Soon To Be Released
The Journey Begins

Entering The Old City of Jerusalem
The documentation of our journey began in October 2006 when my wife and I made our first trip to Israel. During this trip my spirit was awakened and understanding was enlightened after many years of having a wilderness experience in my Christian walk.  We originally thought we would make this trip only once in our lifetime.  But before leaving Israel we began planning to return again as soon as we were able.

I want to share with those who experience this journal some profound memories and also some insights into the role that Israel has played in introducing the world to Messiah Yeshua - Jesus Christ the living Son of God.  We pray that the world wide Church will awaken to it's role in praying for and supporting Israel during this hour of spiritual awakening and revival in their history as a nation.  Also for the church to take it's place as messengers of the Messiah's love to all Jewish people.

I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.  Genesis 12:3.  This was God's promise to Abraham about 3800 years ago which is still true today.

Traveling in Israel During the Feast Of Tabernacles October 2006
Golan Heights
During our travels in Israel I was able to document very quickly impressions of each place we visited.  Most of my sketches were done in only a few minutes while walking around the various sites.  This photograph which was taken on the Golan Heights along with my quick sketches reminded me of several important points.  The longer I travel through this life I realize how short it really is and that there are many directions we can take to travel.  Since we do not always know exactly where the path we choose is taking us, we look for the road signs and markers to help guide us.  There is only one marker that can really lead us through our life to the end of our journey with the hope of eternal life.  That is Messiah Jesus the hope of Glory.

While traveling through the Judean Desert on our way to the Dead Sea we stopped to view Bedouin Shepherds still tending flocks like they have for thousands of years.  This donkey we met on the roadside was taking a break from his normal duties to visit with us tourist.  I was reminded of the Old Testament scripture which foretold of Christ's triumphal arrival into Jerusalem being hailed as King riding on a donkey.  This was also how King Solomon arrived in Jerusalem as he was anointed king of Israel about 900 years earlier.

Rejoice greatly O daughter of Zion!  Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!  Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.  Zechariah 9:9

As we visited the Sea of Galilee at the site of the sermon on the mount, I stood on this rock I considered how Jesus called many to follow him.  He asked us to be messengers of the good news of the Kingdom of God.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God Reign."  Isaiah 52:7

I hope that this is the message that is delivered through the publishing of these sketches and photographs along with scripture references and commentary on the pages of this journal called Sojourner.  Thanks for visiting.

This watercolor map of Israel I created to illustrate the tour we took and the order of our travels.  There were 22 that journeyed together for 11 days and visited 11 different sites.

This watercolor map of the Old City of Jerusalem was produced based on a 19th century engraving and illustrates the four quarters inhabited by Christians on the West side of the city in red & blue, Muslims in the North East in light orange and the Jewish quarter in the South East in light blue.  The original Temple Mount is where the Dome of the Rock Mosque is currently located and is indicated in yellow.  The various Valleys are shown in olive green.  Many people believe their unique shape resemble the fingers of God embracing the Holy City.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!  May they be secure who love you!

About the Author

James Pociluyko has been an Artist and a practicing Architect for over 31 years.  James and his family have a heart for doing global missions and praying for the nations and especially for Israel.  He and his wife led a small group of young people to Israel in 2009 where they ministered in music at the Sukkat Hallel International House of Prayer in Jerusalem.  They also visited other various sites around Israel, encouraging Messianic believers and the IDF soldiers.

James and Debbie worked with many young people at Harvest Renewal Church and the Richmond International House of Prayer in Richmond, Virginia from 2006 to 2011 contending for revival in their city.   James, Debbie, and daughter Sheri recently moved the summer of 2011 from Richmond, Virginia to Kansas City, Missouri to work in global missions with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (visit www.ihop.org).

They hope to return to again to Israel in the near future taking another group of young worshipers and intercessors.  James continues working on other artwork which will be available soon.
